2020 Sauvignon Blanc, Lolonis Vineyard
The grapes were sourced from the organic certified, dry-farmed Lolonis Vineyard, planted in 1942 and recognized as the oldest Sauvignon Blanc vineyard in California.
Our 2021 Lolonis opens with brine, wet stone and citrus aromas. The palate begins with invigorating, green, spring-like notes. With time in the glass, the texture deepens, and the concentration of the vineyard becomes more evident. This one is built to last.

The dry-farmed Lolonis Vineyard, planted in 1943 and recognized as the oldest Sauvignon Blanc vineyard in California, provides minerality and the austerity we strive for in our rendition of Sauvignon Blanc. McFadden Farms Willow Block, at the northern-most reaches of Potter Valley, also old vine material, is equally austere with a briny component that adds complexity and nuance.
The growing season of 2020 began evenly, with no major hiccups until a minor rain event on October 1. Rather than a hindrance, this slowed ripening at Lolonis and help bring the acidity perfectly in line with flavors. We harvested on October 6, 2020. We brought in the more moderate McFadden on September 28.neutral Burgundian barrels. The wine did not undergo malolactic fermentation. Acid levels were brilliantly elevated, and the concentrated berries produced excellent fruit intensity and weight. The juice remained on the lees, with bi-weekly batonnage, for 2 months.
